23, 2025.
Maydra was born in Meridian and later married Fred Voelker.
The couple had two children, Joy and Donna. Maydra worked in
human resources for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for thirty-four
years. Over the course of her life, she lived in six states.
Maydra loved her family above all else and told anyone who
would listen that her proudest moments were the births of her
children and grandchildren. She never failed to answer the
phone if one of them called even if she was in the middle of an
appointment. She delighted in all holidays and especially enjoyed
decorating and gift giving.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rubye and James.
She is survived by her daughter, Joy (Todd) and her daughter
Donna (Corey).
Additionally, she is survived by five grandchildren, Haley
Kroush (David), Will Ruffin, Vivian Sandifer, Elena Sandifer,
and Jacob Adams. She is also survived by her great
granddaughter Parker Kroush.
She would think her obituary remiss if it did not mention that
her cats, Riley and Hank, also survived her.
Because of Maydra’s love of animals, in lieu of flowers
donations to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League would be
appreciated.
