Michael Martin Murphy Sr.

Visitation will be 2:00-5:00pm, Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 2:00pm, Monday, March 16, 2015 in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow with military honors in Lakewood Memorial Park.

He was born Friday, January 24, 1941 in Indianola, Mississippi, a son of the late John Ryan Murphy and Tommie Lee Goodlett Murphy.

Mr. Murphy retired as a master electrician from Dover Elevator after more than 40 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, puzzles and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Brooks Murphy, parents, John Ryan and Tommie Lee Murphy, granddaughter, Ashley Murphy, brothers, Joe, Frank, Jack and Pat Murphy and sister, Linda Dukes.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Linda Mayo Murphy; son, Michael M. Murphy, Jr.; daughters, Tammie Martin (Tim), Debra Murphy, Debbie Reeves Gayle, Angie Garnand and Kim Reeves; sisters, Becky McMahan (Pat) and Sara Pugh (Gerald); and grandchildren, Catelyn Murphy, Travis Martin, Madison Roberts, Landon Murphy Roberts, Brianna McLain (Eric), Zach Gayle (Taylor), Ashton Seneca (Jeremy), Tony Garnand and Scarlett Mitchell.
