Mildred Netherland Herrington Walters, age 92, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on November 4, 2018 in Monroe, LA. Herrington in 1985 and Mr. James Walters in 1998, two brothers, Edward Netherland and John Netherland, and four sisters, Christine Woodward, Lerlene Herrington, Nell Nolan, and Blanche Bryant. Her surviving siblings are James Netherland and his wife Jean and Eula Myers all of Pearl, MS and Jeannie Arnold and her husband Brad of Semmes, AL.

She is also survived by four children: Rick Herrington and his wife Brenda of Oak Grove, LA; Dennis Herrington and wife Cindy of Rayville, LA; Cheryl Jones and her husband Mike of Monroe, LA; and Sheila Durrett of Pearl, MS.

She was extremely proud of her grandchildren: Rebecca Reemes and husband Toney, Oak Grove, LA; Brian Herrington and wife Christy, Rayville, LA; John Patrick Herrington, Atlanta, GA; Jay Jones and wife Wendy, West Monroe, LA; Josh Jones of Bryant, AR; Jeff Jones of Orange Beach, AL; Taylor Durrett, Pearl, MS; Britney Rayner and husband Matt, Ventura, CA; and Ashley Johnson and husband Todd of Madison, MS. Mildred was thrilled to be great-grandmother to Ian, Alex, Brett, John David, William, Samuel, Kate, Addison, Shyne, Rayne, and Colden and great-great grandmother to Phoebe. Family was always family to Mrs. Walters. She dearly loved former daughter-in-law Angela Herrington Mulhern and former son-in-law Wayne Durrett.

Mildred was a faithful pastor’s wife for forty-plus years where she graciously served in whatever capacity was needed within the church. In her later years, she was a devoted member of Pearson Road Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School greeter. She and her sisters Nell and Lerlene spent their later widowed years as housemates where, according to Mildred, they giggled every day. The inspiration of these ladies on their families will last for generations to come.

The family would like to express appreciation to West Carroll Nursing Center in Oak Grove, LA and The Oaks in Monroe, LA for their wonderful, loving care of our mom during her last years.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gideon’s International.

Ms. Mildred was such a precious soul. Her wit and kindness will never be forgotten. She lived her life to the fullest and her heart overflowed with love for both her earthly family and her church family. When she left Pearl, she left a hole at Pearson Baptist Church that can never be replaced. She was the epitome of what a Christian should be.
May God wrap His arms around her family at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

All of us will miss this wonderful witty woman. She always was such an inspiration to me showing me what fun it is to be a Christian. I am so happy her long wait is over and she is now with her Lord. But what a fun ride it was for her and she made it so for everyone around her.
Give it just a while and you Rick, Cheryl, Dennis and Sheila will no longer remember the frail person she became, but the strong, vibrant person she was.
Love to you all, my heart goes out to you all and I pray for your peace, Mimi has found hers.
