Motha N. Jayroe

Motha N. Jayroe, age 80, of Pearl, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, November 26, 2021, and 10:00am until 11:00am, Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel.

She was born October 3, 1941, in Neshoba County, Mississippi, one of nine children born to the late Rev. William Leslie Bounds and Lucy Virginia Sharp Bounds. She graduated from Terry High School.

A loving, Christian mother, Motha was strong in her faith in Christ. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Pearl and, in more recent years, attended church with her son and his family at Metro Baptist Church. An avid reader Motha dedicated time for reading her Bible daily. She was a true prayer warrior, raising her fervent petitions for protection and guidance for her family and friends.

She retired from the Coca Cola Company after more than 28 years as an accountant. In her free time Motha enjoyed bowling, sitting outside feeding the birds, and collecting Coke memorabilia. She also liked to help at the election polls.

Survivors include son, Rev. Samuel W. “Sammy” Jayroe, Jr. and wife Cindy; daughter, Lucy Copeland and partner Larry Mosley; brothers, Martin Bounds, and Robert Bounds; grandchildren, Justin and Tiffany Jayroe, Stephen and Tricia Copeland, Chelsea Copeland, Shelby Jayroe, Laticha Mosley, and Nikki Mosley; great-grandchildren, Abbie Rowell, Caden Thompson, Alaina Copeland, Brandon Copeland, Maverick Robinson, DeAndre Mosley, Aaron Mosley, Elayiah Turner, Dariun Mesley, Curtis Mosley, Taniyah Myers, Noah Myers, and Kingston Bell; and great-great-grandchildren, Carter and Eli Mosley.

Memorials may be made to Metro Baptist Church of Brandon or to Susan G. Koman Foundation for the Cure.
