Norma Jean Alford, 71, of Byram, was born on January 16, 1953 in the city of Prentiss, MS to Harold and Robbie McRaney and passed from this life January 19, 2024, at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Visitation will be held from 12:00pm until 2:00pm, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with interment in the Utica Cemetery.
Norma was a longtime member of Lakeshore Church in Byram. She served as a labor market analyst for the Mississippi State Employment Commission for 39 years. In her free time she enjoyed shopping, dining out, and traveling, especially to her family condo in Florida. Norma was always on the go!
An avid George Strait fan, she attended 108 of his concerts over the years and has an extensive collection of autographs and memorabilia.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Ralph E. Alford, Sr.; sons, Ralph E. Alford, Jr., and Dustin Alford and his wife Stephanie; grandchildren, Bryant Thomas Stokes, Mackenzie Powell, and Brooklyn Powell; sister, Anita Bradley and husband Jimmy; and brothers, Lowell McRaney, Larry McRaney and wife June, and David McRaney. Also, numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Teddy and Patrick McRaney.
