In 1978 she married the love of her life, James “Jim” Creighton and they were blessed with 47 years together before he preceded her to Heaven in 2016.
Patti was a true “people person,” and her natural ability to connect easily with others served her well throughout her varied and interesting career. Following her graduation from Rosedale High School in 1963, she attended school for hair design and went on to own and operate her own salon, Patti’s Klip-N-Kurl. She later made history as the first female exterminator in the tri-county area and served as a dispatcher for the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. Patti eventually joined her husband on long-haul trucking routes, where the couple became known over the radio as “Gentleman Jim and Patti Cake.” She spent the latter part of her career as a legal secretary with Courtney and Camp Attorneys, retiring in 2020.
Patti loved music and served as the pianist for Temple Baptist Church in Greenville for many years. At home, she enjoyed tending to her yard and flowers, keeping her hummingbird feeders filled, and admiring the beautiful collection of wind chimes that adorned her porch. Most of all, Patti cherished time spent with family and friends. She and her two besties were affectionately known as the “Three Musketeers,” sharing laughter, friendship and many special memories along the way. Patti loved her family fiercely and was incredibly proud of each of them.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Leora Dougan; and sister, Earline Moore.
She is survived by daughters, Rene’ Hilton (Mike), Wendi Jabr, and Pam Creighton; sons, Jay Sanders, and Mike Creighton; sisters, Ladene Murrell, Billie Tracy, and Phyllis Doss; grandchildren, Cody Hilton, Bailee Creighton, Evan Creighton, Jessica Gentry, Justin Sanders, Julian Sanders, Danielle Bailey, Mackenzie Bell, and Cameron Bell; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 11:00am, Friday, September 11, 2026, in the funeral home chapel with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
