Richard Farmer

Richard was born on November 25, 1936, in War, West Virginia, to Silas Jackson Farmer and Carvel Violet Owens Farmer. He spent his younger years in Virginia and War, West Virginia before moving to the Jackson, Mississippi area at the age of 18, where he made his home for the remainder of his life, living in Clinton, Brandon, and Richland.

He graduated from Berwin High School in War, West Virginia, and later earned an Associate Degree from Hinds Community College. Richard proudly served his country in the United States military for eight years, including time stationed in Greenland. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a manufacturing supervisor.

Richard was a devoted member of the Baptist church and found great joy in reading and cheering on his favorite college and professional football teams. He was known for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and willingness to help anyone in need. Family and friends will always remember that he wasn't afraid to tell you exactly how he felt, and he could make almost anyone laugh with his comical personality.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Melissa Farmer and Kimberly Dawn Campbell; his grandchildren, Tristan Campbell Medeiros and Rodney Lee Campbell Jr.; and his cherished great-grandson, Austin James Medeiros.

He is also survived by his sister, Judy Windham, and his brother, Harry K. Farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Jackson Farmer and Carvel Violet Owens Farmer, and his siblings, Housel Farmer and Nadeine Farmer. He also shared a special bond with his great-uncle Joe, who held a meaningful place in his life.

Richard's family finds comfort in the promise found in John 3:16–17:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."

Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His laughter, honesty, kind heart, and willingness to lend a helping hand will remain a lasting legacy for generations to come.
