Robert Wilson Hays

Visitation will be 12:30-2:00pm, Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Bob was born August 18, 1931, in Knoxville, Tennessee, the son of the late Robert T. Hays and Ruby A. Dinkins Hays.

Bob joined Crossgates Baptist Church in 1983, where he assisted his wife, Myrna, in teaching Sunday School for several years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp/U.S.Air Force. Robert retired from Delta Airlines in 1992 after more than 36 years of faithful service. He was an avid bowler and bowled for several leagues over the years. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, hunting, and crafting musket balls.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna Morrow Hays (a 61 year marriage prearranged by God); son, Bobby Hays and wife Joann; daughter, Jenny Hays Stevens and husband Keith; grandchildren, Kristen Hays Perkins, Matthew Stevens, Meredith Stevens Capell, and Madison Hays; great-grandchildren, Ruthie Capell, Patrick Capell, Tillman Perkins, Hazel Perkins, Magnolia Belle Stevens, and Sonny Capell; sister, Betty Christy; nieces, Susan Fountain and Pam Gravett; and nephew, Philip Abbott.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Abbott, niece, Sherry Abbott, and nephew, Michael Christy.
