

Robert “Bob” James Mangum entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on August 29th after courageously battling a brief illness. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi on November 28th, 1931. He was a charter member of Grandview Baptist Church in Pearl, MS where he served as a long-time deacon. Bob worked in manufacturing at Weyerhaeuser and Continental Can, and he was an auxiliary deputy with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department.
Lovingly known to his grandchildren as “Pop”, Bob leaves a great legacy of perseverance, loyalty, and Christian faith. As the dedicated leader of his family, Bob loved each member with devoted and fierce love. He greatly enjoyed spending his free time outdoors - gardening, walking, and crafting.
He is survived by children Kathy (Tommy) Bass of Pearl, MS; Tammy (Harry) Sims of Brandon, MS; grandchildren, Shay Shoemaker of Pelahatchie, MS; Misty (Gary) Medina of Mansfield, GA; Christel (Todd) Harvey of Pearl, MS; Noel (Johnny) Phillips of Pearl, MS; Tyler (Tarah) Sims of Nashville, TN; Spencer Sims of Nashville, TN; and Sarah Sims of Nashville, TN; 35 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Mangum, sister, Jackie Kuper, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Mangum, of 61 years; sons, Jimmy and Robert Mangum; parents, Robbie Marie Sanders Mangum and Tindal James Mangum, and brothers, Vernon “Butch” Baumhardt and Don Baumhardt.
Visitation will be held from 9:00am until 11:00am, Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
