Ruth Blackwell Peagler March 1, 1933 – June 10, 2021

On the morning of June 10th Mrs. Ruth Peagler of Pearl, MS left the earthly home that she had been traveling through for the last 88 years behind and took her place in the kingdom of heaven. There is no doubt that she was received with open arms by her Lord and Savior, who she served diligently during her time here on earth.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021, from 12:00 noon until 2:30 at First Baptist Church of Pearl with funeral service immediately following. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.

Mrs. Peagler was a long time resident of Pearl and owned and operated ‘Ruth’s Beauty Shop’ until just a few years ago. She was especially dedicated to her senior customers, often going to them when they needed her services or picking them up when they needed a ride to her shop. She also enjoyed growing flowers in her yard and was so very proud to be awarded “Pearl Yard of the Month” over the years. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Pearl and loved singing in the choir. During all the healthy years of her life she rarely missed a church service. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother and prayer warrior for any and all in need.

She will be missed by both family and friends who loved her so dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Peagler, who passed away on August 20, 1990, her parents John Blackwell and Onie Lee Hitt Blackwell, her brothers, Summit W. Blackwell and O.B. Blackwell and sisters Johnnie Hissem, Gladys Bean, Frances Welch and Juanita Couch.

She is survived by her sons, Theo Peagler of Brandon, MS, Michael Peagler, Reggie Peagler both of Pearl, MS and Mark Peagler (Wanda) of Flowood, MS. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Sarah Peagler and children Tessa and Silas; Ashleigh Goodwin (Jason) and daughters Anna Chamblee and Leighton; Taylor Peagler (Penny) and children Gracie, Kensley, Madison and Tuff; Morgan Peagler and sons Sawyer and Brantley; Hannah Howard (Craig) and son Aaron; Bailey Peagler; Marley Peagler; and Kaycee Peagler. Margot Kadoun was loved dearly by Mrs. Peagler and certainly considered family. Her sister-in-law, Margaret Jane Driskell, held a special place in her heart as well.

Pallbearers are Taylor Peagler, Jason Goodwin, Jeff Netherland, Doug Wilkerson, Wayne Sistrunk and Randy Sistrunk.

Miss Ruth was the sweetest, most kind and caring person you could ever meet. I will always cherish our talks in her shop while she cut my hair.. She was loved and will be missed deeply. Comfort, peace and strength to her family in this time of loss.

I have known Miss Ruth since I can remember, She cut my bangs in the first grade and she cut my bangs when I was in my 50's. No one has ever come close to cutting my bangs so perfectly. I was honored to have spent many a meal that Miss Ruth cooked. Always delicious. Everything from gumbo to chicken and dumplings. Her cornbread was divine. She was loved beyond measure by both her sons and her grandkids and great grandkids, daughter in law, friends, church family and many others.. She was loved and we will miss her.
