Bro. Sammy was born November 28, 1965, a son of the late Samuel Walton Jayroe, Sr. and Motha Bounds Jayroe.
He enjoyed a lengthy career as a truck driver for MCH Transportation. Bro. Sammy loved his years in trucking, especially having an opportunity to visit and witness to the many people he connected with in his industry.
Bro. Sammy’s love for our Lord and his desire to lead others to Christ was central in his life. He was a member of Metro Baptist Church in Brandon and a chaplain for Truckstop Ministries, often gifting drawings of crosses which he created to fellow truckers, friends, and often, strangers, to whom he had the blessing of sharing his story with.
In his free time Bro. Sammy enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family and friends.
Bro. Sammy’s servant’s heart and love for others made a lasting impression on so many. Although his passing leaves a vast void in our lives, we honor his Heavenly Home-going and celebrate the life we shared with him.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Cindy Jayroe; son, Shelby Jayroe; sister Lucy Copeland and her partner Larry Moseley; sister-in-law, Sheena Gullett; niece, Chelsea Robinson (Jerome); nephews, Justin Jayroe (Tiffany), and Stephen Copeland (Tricia); four great-nephews; and two great-nieces.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Donate Life Mississippi through MORA at msora.org.
