Shirley Evans, 87, of Pearl, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, at Baptist Hospital, leaving a void her family cannot fill. Born on August 5, 1937, Shirley was a woman of immense warmth, kindness, and grace, whose life touched everyone who knew her.
She was born to the late Joseph Elbert Randall and Irma Lee Adams in Jackson, Mississippi where she attended Central High School and was raised amongst her beloved brothers and sisters. Shirley then moved to Pearl with her husband Charles Wendell Evans, knowing shortly after their first meeting that it was true love. They have lived happily together for the past 67 years, committed to maintaining a beautiful marriage marked by unwavering love, partnership, and friendship. Together, they raised two sons, Lee Evans and Glen Evans, who were the center of Shirley’s world. She was a devoted mother to Lee and Glen, her pride and joy. She always said their birth changed her life for the better, and they felt that in the love and support she provided. Shirley was also a proud and adoring grandmother to Trey Evans, Traci Romero, and Rachel Evans, and a cherished great-grandmother to Reece and Palmer Romero. Shirley’s greatest joy in life was her family, and her selfless love and support were a constant throughout their lives.
Shirley took special joy in parenthood, and she had countless fond memories of the family and her kids. In addition, she enjoyed the yearly tradition of travelling with her husband for road-trip getaways, especially to Branson, Missouri. Many of her favorite memories were made sharing coffee surrounded by family. Shirley was particularly fond of shopping with her sisters and grandchildren for the numerous thoughtful gifts she gave others. She was known for her caring nature, always the first to offer help, support, and a listening ear. Her kindness and thoughtfulness made her a pillar of strength for those around her.
Above all, Shirley’s legacy is one of unwavering love, boundless generosity, and the deep connection she shared with her family and friends. Her presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, James Randall, Doris Burkett, Bobby Randall, Howard Randall, Helen Moore and Charles Randall; and is survived by her siblings, Beverly Vance, Elsie Vandevender, Randy Randall and Danny Randall, who will never forget the love she brought to their lives. Also surviving is her beloved husband, two sons, grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and many other beloved extended family members and dear friends.
