Visitation will be 9:00-11:00am, Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with interment in Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery, Pelahatchie.
Shirley was born February 20, 1939, in Rankin County, a daughter of the late Henry Curtis Varner and Maudie Lee Prine Varner.
She was a nursing home administrator for more than 40 years, serving Brandon Court Nursing Home in Brandon, Community Nursing Home in Jackson, and several other facilities throughout the state.
She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Pelahatchie.
Shirley's favorite times were spent visiting with her grandchildren, reading, or working in her yard. A gifted writer, expressing her feelings through words came easy for her. She enjoyed writing poems and letters to her family members, which will long be treasured by each who received them.
She is survived by her children, Michael Eugene Adcock and wife Sharon, Debbie Blackwell and husband John, and Mitchell Henry Adcock and wife Christy; grandchildren, Cameron Adcock, Katie Adcock, Brad Blackwell, Brianna Blackwell, Christopher Ross, Andrew Ross, Eric Adcock, and Kurt Adcock; great-grandchildren, Averi Ross, Riley Blackwell, and Whelan Adcock; sister, Connie Kelley and husband Tommy; niece, Kristi Scales, her son, Derrick, and daughter Victoria Allen; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
