Shirrell was born on November 09, 1944, in Moss Point, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Mr. Chesley Miller and Mrs. Frances Gant Miller.
Throughout her life, Shirrell was known as a beloved and gentle presence—compassionate in spirit, loyal in heart, and faithful in the way she cared for those around her. Her honesty and devotion were steady hallmarks of her character, offered quietly and consistently in daily life.
Shirrell was hard-working and dependable, spending many years in the restaurant industry as a waitress. In work, as in all things, she carried herself with sincerity and a deep respect for others.
She married the love of her life, William Benton, and together they were blessed with four children, 12 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and her devoted care and steadfast love shaped generations.
In her personal time, Shirrell found joy in simple, meaningful pleasures such as yardwork, playing Uno, and following and cheering on the New Orleans Saints. These everyday moments reflected the warmth and constancy she brought to life and to the people she loved.
Shirrell is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sherrian Johnson and Lisa Benton; sons, Christopher Benton and Scott Benton (Gail). She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 10:00am to 12:00pm. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 2pm at Lakewood Memorial Park South in Jackson, Mississippi.
