The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Elton Woods Church of God in Jackson. The funeral service will follow afterwards that same day in the Church at 1:00pm. A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm as well that same day at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl. Officiating the services will be Reverend Steve Bullion. Serving as active pallbearers are Shannon Redwine, Shaun Redwine, Don Patrick, Larry Errington, Jack Lewis, Marty Long, and Paul Manning and serving as honorary pallbearers are Chaplain Eugene Wiglesworth, J.D. Jones, Barry Jones, and Jason Woodcock.
She was born on May 15, 1940 to the late Duard Rock and Lillie Miller Rock in Mississippi. Sue was a hard worker and raised her beloved three children on her own. She was truly creative and had an artist's eye. For several years, Sue worked at Kroger as a cake decorator. Her talent especially showed in her drawings, and she loved making caricatures and cartoons. In her free time, Sue also enjoyed travelling, especially to Israel or going on cruises.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte Taylor and her siblings, JD, James, Ed, Norma, Melford, and Mary Lou.
Sue is survived by her husband, Walter Strong; children, Carl Hannah (Karen), Angela Foster (Daniel), Montez Carby, and Walt Strong Jr (Sarah); brother, Edward Rock; sister, Edna Cates; grandchildren, Shannon Redwine, Shaun Redwine, Britanie Sammartino, Ryan Hannah, Cecily Carby, Paige Bright, Dallas Bright, Taylor Frederick, and Jackson Strong; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Redwine, Braelynn Redwine, Ryan Lamb, and Shanely Frederick; and several dear extended family members and friends.
