Thomas C. Cameron
November 11, 1951 – October 24, 2019
Thomas C. Cameron (“Tom”), 67, of Pearl, MS went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2019.
Tom was born in Denver, CO on November 11, 1951, to Gertrude (“Sammie”) Davis Cameron and Wayne Thomas (“Big Tom” to which he was “Little Tom”) Cameron. He attended Highland High School in Thornton, CO and the University of Southern California.
Tom married his sweetheart, Anita Slusher, on July 10, 1971, and has remained faithfully by her side every day since that time. He was in the United States Army for 20+ years, and was very proud of his accomplishments and the work he did for his country. While in the Army, he and Anita spent many years living abroad as part of his service. They enjoyed time spent with their children, showing them different parts of the world. Tom was a wonderful and boisterous story teller (some might say embellisher) and loved to share his memories of his days in the Army, with just about anyone who would listen.
Tom loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with all of them. His grandchildren were the absolute light of his life. Tom was also a proud member of the Moose Lodge in Jackson, MS. He and Anita spent a lot of evenings there and made many fond memories, as well as cherished friendships. In recent years, there was another girl on Tom’s arm and you rarely saw one without the other. This was his adored Chihuahua, Peanut Butter, also affectionately known as “Baby Girl” and she was a constant companion to him.
As large (and loud) and full of life as Tom was, a little spark left his eye when he lost his beloved daughter, Angie, to cancer in 2012. He enjoyed sharing his memories of his time spent with Angie, and he missed her fiercely. As a means of therapy, he and Anita hit the road in their camper and spent several months touring the western part of the country, where they visited The Grand Canyon. This was a wonderful time spent together on that trip.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, Tom is survived by his son: Thomas R. (“Tommy”) Cameron of Brandon, MS; his grandchildren: Desiree Hewitt of Brandon, MS, Jeremy Hewitt and wife, Dannon of Kapolei, HI, Dylan Alford and wife, Skylar of Louisville, MS, and Thomas C. (“T.C.”) Cameron of CO; his one-and-only beloved great-grandson, Rhett Hewitt of Kapolei, HI (to which he referred to himself as “G.G.Paw”); and his brother. Robert (“Rob”) Cameron of CO.
There is a visitation Tuesday, October 29 from 5-8 p.m. at Baldwin-Lee in Pearl, MS. Funeral services will be held at Baldwin-Lee on Wednesday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m. Tom will be laid to rest at the Natchez National Cemetery on Thursday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m.

I was fortunate to have Tom and Anita come in to my life and introduce me to their wonderful children Tommy and Angie. This family had a special place in my heart and made the time I spent in Germany so much more special. Tom will be missed by all.
