Tommy was born July 15, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois.
He worked for many years as the manager of the meat department for a retail grocery company. Tommy truly enjoyed his work and those he worked with. He had a strong work ethic and believed that whatever you’re doing, do it to the very best of your ability- values that can sometimes be hard to find these days.
Tommy’s free, roaming spirit kept him moving. His favorite hobby was traveling, especially cruises on the open sea. He wanted to take in every show on the ship, and his beautiful smile lit up the room as he watched, loving every moment. His favorite destinations included Jamaica, and as an avid fan of Mickey Mouse, Disneyworld of course.
Perhaps Tommy will best be remembered for his big, radiant smile and infectious laugh. When Tommy laughed, you couldn't help but crack up, too.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Jill Thurman McElroy; mother, Susie B. Short; son, Stephen Lefay McElroy; daughters, Brittney Leann McElroy, Brandi Renee McElroy, and Jillyssa Renee Davis; grandchildren, Ethan Robinson and Brooklyn McElroy; sisters, Rita M. Smith and Sandra D. Harris; and special nephew, Jonathon Thurman.
