Life Celebration Services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Truitt Memorial Baptist Church in Pearl. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
Wayne graduated from LSU with a degree in accounting. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Wayne served in Japan and was a certified Russian Language Specialist. He retired in 2005 from the Port of New Orleans, where he served as a Procurement Officer for more than 25 years.
Wayne was a faithful member of Truitt Memorial Baptist Church, attending services and playing the harmonica with the Worship Team, until his failing health prevented him from doing so. His hobbies included hunting and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Harold Blackmon and Imogene Prather Blackmon, and daughter, Emily Blackmon Edmunds.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Kathy McElroy Blackmon; children, Karen Guillaud (Eddie), Meredith Snowden (Matt), Carlton Brady (Rachel), and Amanda Cortez (Zac); son-in-law, Alex Edmunds; brother, Richard Keith Blackmon; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
