Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl from 5:00pm until 7:00pm and Saturday, September 13, 2025, at The Church at Shiloh beginning at 10:00am with memorial service at 11:00am, followed by interment in the Shiloh Cemetery.
Wayne, as he was known by family and friends, was born on December 15, 1941, in Collins, MS, to Mack Melvin Perkins and Willa Dean Rhodes Perkins. The family moved to the Shiloh community in Rankin County, MS when Wayne was a young boy. He graduated from Pelahatchie High School in 1961.
Wayne moved to the Leesburg community in Rankin County, MS, after he married JoAnne Thompson Perkins in 1966. During his many years living in Leesburg, Wayne became an active member of the community and Leesburg Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Wayne worked in the glass business for many years before he started his own company, Perkins Glass Co. He made many friends in the construction industry while he ran Perkins Glass until he retired.
Wayne always enjoyed living life to the fullest. He loved to travel, play golf, hunt, fish, and watch Ole Miss play football. He took great pride in his lake and was pleased to offer a fishing opportunity to anyone when he got the chance. He was an avid gardener who inherited a “green thumb” from his mother. He especially enjoyed tending his vegetable garden and fruit trees and sharing their abundance with family and friends.
Wayne married Judith Ann Hooper in 1994. During their marriage, they moved to the Shiloh community where he lived his remaining 30 years. Wayne and Judy traveled very often, everywhere from Texas, Alaska, and abroad. They especially enjoyed spending time in New Orleans and went there often. They developed many friendships over the years and often traveled with other couples.
Wayne is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brothers, Ralph Perkins and Ronnie Perkins; sisters, Linda Carter and Sandra Perkins; and stepdaughter, Melissa Lynn Paxton.
Wayne is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Massey (James) and Stacey Stracener (Wayne Jimenez); son, Jason Perkins; stepdaughter, Michelle Hooper Parter (Russ); grandchildren, Chance Massey (Crystal), Jamie Massey (Khristen), Stephen Massey, Will Stracener, Polly Stracener; step grandchildren, Kristen Vanderford, Riley Ellis Ogletree (Jack), Brooklyn Paxton, Sarah Miller, and Evan Ellis; and 10 great grandchildren.
