It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Willie Merle Ingram, our loving mother, on March 09, 2021. She left us after a long life filled with love and joy. She was in her 89th year.
Born in Simpson County Mississippi, she was the daughter of Melvin and Mardell Herrington. Within that family, she grew up with numerous brothers and sisters, Mary Cronley, Marlyn Hughes, J.W. Herrington, and Dale Herrington.
She was the beloved mother of Yama McCarty, Tawanda McCarty, Sherry Ingram, and Kevin Ingram. The proud grandmother of Robby, Michael, Gerald, Alex, Chaz, Jacob, and Christopher. She also held dear to her heart numerous great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by her husband Jimmie and daughter Sherry.
Mom lived a full life working in her garden and flower house. She gained her passion for flowers from her mother and won “Yard of the Month” from the City of Pearl numerous times. In her garden, she grew fresh vegetables which she shared with everyone. Most of her harvest was canned or frozen for each to enjoy during the winter months.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held at Sharon Cemetery, 114 Sharon-Saratoga Road, Magee, Mississippi on Friday, March 12, 2021 beginning with a grave-side visitation at 1:30 PM followed by her funeral at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local church of your choosing.
