Barney, at the amazing age of 95 passed away quietly under the loving care of his daughter Denise and granddaughter Jill in Jackson, MS. A lifelong resident of Denver, CO until 2006, Barney is survived by his wife of 72 years, Margaret, daughters, Debra Chandler Stephens (Tom) and Denise Chandler Jeffress (Jerry), son Dale Chandler (Valerie), Sister Caroline Oswandal (Oz), 11 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Preceeding him in death were 2 sons Dennis Chandler (Diana), Dean Chandler (Jane), parents, Wyatt and Grace Chandler, and three sisters, Lillian, Bernice, and Wilma.
Born in Hot Springs, AR, to Wyatt Byron Chandler, Sr. and Grace Ethel Shaw, the family moved shortly to Denver where he attended Denver Public Schools and graduated from Manuel High School. Barney married Margaret Bliss in 1940 and they established a home in North Denver where they raised 5 children. Drafted toward the later stages of WWII, he helped to transition returning troops to civilian life after their service in Europe and the Pacific. He later attended Denver University. Barney spent most of his career working for the Federal Government at the Federal Center in Lakewood, CO. Taking an early retirement allowed him to pursue his passion for travel and develop a profitable hobby of fixing and flipping homes. He will be sadly missed by his extensive family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 5-7 pm at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, MS. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm, with service and interment following at 2:00 pm, February 6, 2013 at Olinger Funeral Home in Northglenn, CO
