Yale was born on September 22, 1943 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to the late Yale M. Canfield and Margaret Brooks Canfield. He proudly served our country in the United States Airforce. Yale was a graduate of Mississippi College and Abilene Christian University. An avid trout fisherman, he always kept active. He never shunned a sport and supportively coached his daughters as they grew up. Yale enjoyed running, cycling and was an all-around gifted athlete. Some say the only thing he couldn't play was music - he was tone deaf to his own singing, but knew beautiful music when he heard it. The most important thing to Yale was Faith. He was a respected and beloved educator and school administrator for 3 decades and continued to lead many to Christ as a preacher and a true disciple of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arch Brooks Canfield.
Yale is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Betsy Canfield; daughters, Kimberly Maddox (Jay), Mary Margaret Canfield, Rebecca Young, and Laura Nail (Jason); son, Brian Schara (Janet); as well as 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
