Alberto was born on August 5th, 1953, in Brooklyn, New York to Julio Diaz and Carmen Saldana. In 1966, he and his family moved to Puerto Rico where he would later meet the love of his life, Lourdes Rodriguez. They were married on May 30th, 1975, in Isabella, Puerto Rico. After completing medical school in 1979, he joined the Army to further his education in ophthalmology. This led him to Texas where he would eventually settle in Beaumont and become a highly respected owner of Eye Centers of Southeast Texas for 33 years. Dr. D was a caring and dedicated physician who always went the extra mile for his patients and their families.
Alberto was an avid collector of various items throughout his life, continuously finding joy in discovering and preserving unique pieces. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, who cherished time with his family and dedicated his life to providing for them, ensuring they had everything they needed. His kindness, intelligence, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones will forever be remembered.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lourdes, his children and their spouses, Karelys and Juan Carlos Rivera, Denisse and Mark Mazziotti, Albert Diaz, Elizabeth and Bradley Johnson, as well as his grandchildren Arabella, Carolina, Christian, David, Alessandra, Lillian, Wesley, Samuel, and Michael. He is also survived by his mother, Carmen, and brothers Julio and Ricky.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16th, 2023, at Forest Park South Funeral Home, 12650 Shadow Creek Pkwy, Pearland, TX 77584.
