Alicia Margarita Retana

Alicia Margarita Retana de Escudero, 66, falleció en Houston, TX (EE.UU.) el viernes, 22 de septiembre de 2023 rodeada de sus tres hijas y su esposo.

Alicia nació el 6 de abril de 1957 en Caracas, Venezuela. Era la hija única de Miguel Retana y Concepción Martín de Retana. Se graduó del Colegio Santa Rosa de Lima y asistió a la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, en Caracas, donde estudió Administración. Alicia era la gerente de crédito y cobranzas de EQUISA, la empresa de equipos quirúrgicos que fundaron sus padres.

A Alicia le encantaba invitar a su casa a amigos y a familiares, y tenía un especial interés en la decoración de mesas para sus reuniones. Una tarde de amigas sin café no era una tarde de amigas. También le encantaba coser y bordar con su máquina bordadora. Le gustaba hacer y bordar bolsas de tela que después usaba para hacer regalos.

Alicia era una increíble madre y abuela, a quien sus nietos llamaban “Puki”. Su mayor alegría estaba en la compañía de sus hijas, sus yernos, sus nietos y su adorado esposo.

Le sobreviven su esposo Carlos, sus hijas Alejandra, Adriana y Anabella, sus yernos Michael Pastore y Rair Valero y sus dos nietos Juan Pablo Valero y Tomás Pastore.

La familia Escudero Retana quisiera extender su agradecimiento a la Dra. Celia Miralles Flores del Hospital Ruber Internacional en Madrid, España, al Dr. Arón Simkins y a Amparo Álvarez en el Hospital Mount Sinaí en Miami Beach, FL, y a todo el equipo de cuidados paliativos de Harbor Hospice en Pearland, TX por todo su cuidado y cariño.

Se llevará a cabo una reunión privada en la Funeraria Forest Park South en Pearland, TX el día miércoles 27 de septiembre de 2023 a las 4:00 pm. También se celebrará una misa en Miami, FL próximamente.

Alicia Margarita Retana de Escudero, 66, passed away in Houston, TX on Friday, September 22nd, 2023. She was surrounded by her three daughters and her husband of 43 years.

Alicia was born on April 6th, 1957 in Caracas, Venezuela. She was the only child of Miguel and Concepción (Martín) Retana. She graduated from St. Rose of Lima School, and attended the Catholic University Andrés Bello in Caracas. Alicia was the credit and finance manager for EQUISA, the medical equipment company founded by her parents.

Alicia loved entertaining friends and family members, and really enjoyed decorating tables for all sorts of gatherings at home. A gathering without coffee was not a gathering in her book. She also loved sewing, and would make and embroider gift bags for anyone to whom she would give a present.

Alicia was an amazing mother and grandmother, always referred to as “Puki” by her two grandsons. She doted on her family, and was happiest when her three daughters, sons-in-law, grandsons and loving husband surrounded her.

Alicia was survived by Carlos, her devoted husband of 43 years, her three daughters Alejandra (Michael Pastore), Adriana (Rair Valero), Anabella, and her two grandsons, Juan Pablo Valero and Tomás Pastore.

The Escudero Retana family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Celia Miralles Flores at Ruber International Hospital in Madrid, Spain, to Dr. Arón Simkins at Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, FL, and the whole team at Harbor Hospice for all their love and care.

A small gathering will be held at Forest Park South Funeral Home in Pearland, TX on Wednesday, September 27th, 2023 at 4:00 pm.

A memorial service and celebration of Alicia’s life will be held in Miami, FL at a later date.
