My grandma’s love filled every corner of my childhood. I remember sitting close to her, listening to her sing “Jesu wa nbi, o wa,” “A be hi bi orombo,” and “Emi ni Jesu fe.” Her gentle voice made me feel safe and calm. She ran a daycare, something only a truly patient and loving woman could do.
I’ll never forget the time I spent with her in Nigeria before Granddaddy passed. Watching her bathe him, feed him, and care for him with such devotion shaped my understanding of love. Even as a child, their bond was so real that it made me believe in lasting, genuine love.
Some of my sweetest memories are from their home in Palmgrove, the smell of Grandma’s Amala and ewedu, the sound of her prayer bell at dawn, and Granddaddy walking the compound at night with his torchlight. She welcomed me with open arms when I ran to her, guided me with discipline and care, and woke me early to iron clothes. Those moments shaped me deeply.
Though I’m teary, my heart is grateful for the memories, the lessons, and the love they planted in us. I’m comforted knowing our grandparents are reunited in heaven, and that their legacy continues to guide us through the love we carry forward.

I would like to send my heart-felt condolences to my brother, Mr. Adebowale Adenekan and the entire Adenekan family on the loss of our mother and Elder, Mrs Clarice Taiwo Adenekan. She has graced the world with her many fruitful seeds and these seeds have grown into the Pinnacle(s) of the earth hence we thank God for sending his precious daughter who came and blessed us on earth and now that she has been called home in fulfillment of her purpose, Father we pray for the fortitude to bear the loss and elevate her legacy. Grandmummy was a pillar of strength, love, and faith. She taught us discipline, responsibility, and devotion. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will forever live in our hearts.

On one hand I find myself having no more maternal sibling. On the other hand I take comfort in the fact that you were the last to depart. You and your twin, (Mama Yele), were my surrogate Mum growing up. Mama needed help attending to a baby in her "old age" and both of you stepped up and effectively took care of me. 

As a young child I watched you, Mama, and another one of our siblings  as you related with Christ Jesus. I have not regretted emulating your walk with Christ ever since.

Papa on several occasions will think it was you when he heard me speak before he saw who was speaking. And would wonder aloud how we both sounded so alike. It made my heart happy to hear that. I loved to sound like you.

You have left that voice behind in one of my nieces.  When I speak to her over the phone, or on occasion face to face, she sounds just like me. I understand now how I must have sounded when people told me I sounded like you. You have left your voice behind with me as well as with my niece. I will hear your voice until I come home.

Adieu. We shall meet at Jesus' feet. Amen and amen. I pray that we shall meet with the whole family at the feet of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Dear Mummy "Ile ikeji" has gone to rest. That was your moniker from us growing up. You did not live next door to us, but next door to our grandma.....hence the descriptive name. Your sister, my Mum, held you dearly in her heart, a foundation we built on, my siblings and I.

You called me fem fem. Short for Oluwafemi,  I felt extra special everytime we visited. I agree with all that you always had a smile. Your voice was kind even as you were. 

You will be missed. Thank God for your life well spent. We are thankful to Him for His blessings in you and through you. Rest well.

I got a text from a friend after you passed sharing their condolence on the passing of my "aunt".  That actually took me by surprise and i wondered for a moment which "aunt"passed.  Interestingly, whereas I referred to your siblings as "Aunties or Uncles", i did not see you in that light.  You were my Mum's twin sister which meant the "other mum". 

You were indeed a mother to us all.  I have very fond memories of visits to Palm Grove - criss crossing between Mama Agba's place and yours.  Your home was always buzzing.  I remember when i came back home  after one month of NYSC and went over to see you. You felt that I had been starved at the NYSC camp and lamented  my thin neck . Your phrase I remember clearly was "orun omo mi ti na" ;-)  You then proceeded to feed me.  

You loved the Lord.  You were a true worshipper.  The way you lived your life preached a lot more to people than you probably realised.  it was so inspiring seeing you worshipping fully even in your later years.  And the Lord loved you "repete" as you so often confessed in your songs of praise. 

I am thankful i got to see you in 2022 after so many years and grateful that i saw you on  whatsapp video in October 2025.  And of course songs like "emi ni Jesu fe" were sung.

We are all indeed like flowers of the field. We flourish and bloom and then the wind passes over it and it is gone.  We fade away just like the  stars lose their light in the morning, only to be remembered by what we have done.

You will forever be remembered for your smile, your love for all, and your unshakeable love for God.  You have run your race and finished very well indeed.  You have left a great legacy for us all.   Rest in peace till we meet to part no more

My gracious and most loving mother in-law has gone to eternal glory and will be sorely missed. I could not have wished for a more loving mother who embraced and loved me as her own. She was my “cover” during my pregnancies and was always  there to support me when my two “angels” arrived and thereafter. I will never forget your loving smile, your sincere kindness and “infectious” dancing every time we got back from church when you stayed with us - you were indeed a “real soul train” dancer for Christ. You lived a full and fulfilled life, and Yemi, Toyin, Temi & I all thank God for having you in our lives. Rest in peace mum.

Mummy, mummy. Mama Lape. One thing people didn't realize was that mummy Adenekan was my mom for real. Her maiden name was Ademokun, a name I was familiar with when I was a teenager because her late father, baba Odunfa, was very close to my grandfather, Pa Oyemade of Olushi. Her late brother, Sanya Ademokun would visit my mom at least once a week. I now u continously transfered that Oyemade love abd affection to mummy till her death. I will miss singinng Emi ni Jesu fe together and the $100 you give me every February 17, my birthday.  Love u mummy and missing u already. May your soul rest in perfect peace.

You know, they say grandmothers hold our hands for a moment, but our hearts forever, and that feels so true when I think of her.

When I was little, the thing I remember most vividly was the faith that filled her house. We’d all gather into the house in Palm groove for those night vigils. There was just this feeling in the air. I can still hear her voice as she sang praises to God; it wasn't just singing, it was worship so deep and so passionate, it brought the whole family, all her children and grandchildren together, bound by prayer.

Honestly, when I reflect on her life, I always come back to the biblical King David. Grand mummy truly was a woman after God's own heart. She was our blueprint. She laid such a good example for us all, showing us what real devotion looked like. But it wasn’t just her faith. It was the beautiful way she loved Grandpa. She was the definition of a virtuous woman, and it was clear how deeply he adored her. I saw it countless times: Grandpa would make some sweet little comment, and you’d catch Grand Mummy blushing like a schoolgirl! Their love was such a tender, wonderful thing to witness.
Now, that brings me comfort. Her journey here is over, but I know she’s finally back in his arms, the two of them together again with the Lord. She truly lived a long and fulfilled life.

To my grandmother’s twin, a truly extraordinary woman — a great-grandmother, and a pillar of quiet strength who graced this world for 97 beautiful years. 

Your journey was long, rich, and blessed, and you lived it surrounded by the love and devotion of your daughter, immediate and extended family, who cared for you with dignity, tenderness, and unwavering commitment.

You may have been my grandmother’s twin sister, but to me, you were a second grandmother with a familiar smile and persona. My love for you was just as deeply, and your passing feels like a piece of my shared history has gently slipped into eternity.

At 97, you leave behind a legacy not measured only in years, but in the joy you brought, the wisdom you carried, and the love you gave so effortlessly.

May your soul find eternal peace.
