

In the early morning hours of March 10, 2025 David Burton Bugg went home to the be with the Lord after a long battle with dementia. Born on July 16, 1952 in Murfreesboro, TN to Charles and Erlene Bugg who preceded him in death. David lived a life full of service, family, faith, love and a bit of silliness.
David is survived by his wife, Brenda Bugg, from Enterprise, AL; a step-son David Youngblood JR of Pearland, TX; a daughter, Amelia “Amy” Bugg; of Pearland, TX; a son Frank Bugg (Corinne Rasmussen-Bugg) daughters Ruby and Cora Bugg of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK; brother Larry Bugg (Gail) and family of Lascassas, TN, brother Steve Bugg of Murfreesboro, TN, brother Bob Bugg (Kathy) and family of Lascassas, TN, brother Bruce Bugg (Myra) and family of Lascassas, TN, sister Charlene Farley (Larry) and family of Lascassas, TN, sister Janice Bugg of Murfreesboro, TN; sister-in-law Sue Bailey (Tom - deceased) and family of Enterprise, AL, brother-in-law Mike McDurmont (Linda) and family of Birmingham, AL and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. All will remember him with love, laughter, and kindness.
David attended Central High School and graduated in the class of 1970. He then attended Auburn University on a ROTC scholarship earning a degree in Civil Engineering. Following graduation, David served his country in the U.S. Army at Fort Novosel (formally Fort Rucker) in Dale County, AL. He earned medals in marksmanship and Meritorious Service Medal. There he met his wife, Brenda and her son David Youngblood, Jr. They were married in August of 1978. Following David’s service in the Army he enjoyed a wonderful career in engineering and sales for Michelin, Frito Lay, Bordon, Sterling Commerce, and OpenText. Through this career he was able to travel and touch the lives of many people.
David enjoyed all sports, especially college football and golf. He loved to fish, camp, run marathons, take long walks, watch a good movie, work in the yard, and he enjoyed a good meal. David loved serving God and loving on people. He became an ordained deacon at First Baptist Church of McKinney, TX, and served as a deacon in several churches where he lived after McKinney. David enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher at Johns Creek Baptist Church in Alpharetta, GA and greeter at Second Baptist South campus of Pearland, TX.
A celebration of life and funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Forest Park South Funeral Home, 12650 Shadow Creek Pkwy, Pearland, TX 77584. Visitation from 9:00 am – 11:00 am and service at 11:00 am. Followed by a graveside service for the family at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in David’s name to Second Baptist Church.
