Henry Spencer was born on September 19, 1953, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where he spent his early years before pursuing his education at Coahoma Jr. College, Mississippi Valley State University, and the University of Houston.
He built a meaningful career as an engineer through hard work and perseverance, beginning in the shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi, later working in the aerospace field supporting projects connected to NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, and concluding his career with the Internal Revenue Service.
Henry shared 40 years of marriage with his wife, Barbara Ann Benson Spencer. He loved people and never met a stranger, and he loved to talk, naturally connecting with others. He valued his independence and lived life on his own terms.
Above all, he deeply loved his family. He cherished his wife, children, siblings, and grandson, and family was always at the center of his life. He enjoyed working on cars, loved basketball, enjoyed traveling, and valued staying active and healthy.
Henry Spencer passed away on March 27, 2026, in Pearland, Texas. He lived with strength, resilience, and independence until the very end.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara Ann Benson Spencer; his daughters, Jamila Spencer Gold and Nailah Spencer Olivarez; his sons-in-law, Jesse Gold and Robert Olivarez; his grandson, Henry Santos Olivarez; his sisters, Beatrice Burton, Carrie Benson, Vera Dunn, Maxine Jackson, and Doris Riordan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
