Hugo Miguel Llamo was born on September 29, 1962, in Havana, Cuba and passed away on December 4, 2025, in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Carmen Llamo and Mother-in-law, Barbara Quinn. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Quinn Llamo, sister, Ana Llamo, brother, Frank Llamo, nephews, Zakary Llamo-Cohen (Tawney), Nikolas Llamo-Cohen (Tressa), numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Hugo was the first-born child to Hugo E. Llamo and Carmen Martinez. Cuba was in turmoil at the time, under the communist regime of Fidel Castro, so when Hugo was just two years old, the Llamo family moved to Spain. Shortly after arriving in Spain, Hugo's sister, Ana, was born and eight years later, his brother, Frank, completed the family.
In the mid 1970's, the Llamo family relocated to the Sharpstown area of Houston, where they created life-long friendships within the Cuban community. Hugo attended Holy Ghost Catholic School and then graduated in 1980 from Sharpstown High School.
Hugo attended the University of Houston, with an interest in drafting and architecture. He worked for Hoelscher Weatherstrip for more than 20 years and joined Nancy in retirement in the summer of 2025.
In the late 1980's, Ana introduced her fellow University of St. Thomas classmate, Nancy Quinn, to the Llamo family. Nancy and Ana quickly became close friends. In the summer of 1994, Nancy joined the Llamos on a family vacation to Miami to visit Carmen's mother, Abuela. Shortly following that trip, Hugo and Nancy began dating.
Hugo and Nancy married on October 5, 1996, surrounded by hundreds of family and friends.
They began their married life living in the garage apartment behind Nancy's mother's home on Hawthorne St., in Houston. Hugo and Nancy resided there until building Casa Llamo in Pearland in 2000.
Nancy would like to thank the medical personnel that gave such compassionate care to Hugo for so long: Dr. Julia Kovacs, Dr Uday Khosla, Dr. Linda Le, and Dr. Amin Karim. She also extends much gratitude to Hugo’s dialysis nurses, who became part of their family: Carla, Connie, Toya, Donna, and Miss Etta.
