

James Charles Hughes, of Rosharon/Iowa Colony, Texas passed away on the early morning of Friday, January 16, 2026. He was born in Houston, Texas on January 27, 1954. His passing was just before his 72nd birthday, to parents; John Conroy Sr. and Julianna Hughes.
Jim and his business partner, Eric N. Hare owned/operated " Hare Repair Inc.", an auto repair shop in Houston, Texas for almost 50 years. He had a passion for fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, golfing, gardening, going to the casinos with family and friends. He also loved being at home with his " kittie-witties" and mowing his grass in the summertime, so he could take long, well deserved breaks to smoke his cigarettes and drink his budweiser beer.
Jim was preceded in death by his older brother, John Conroy Jr. and older sister, Judy Carol Thompson.
He is survived by his younger sister, Mary Hughes Middlebrook; her daughters, Lindsey Kaye and Julianna Rene; nieces, Lalanea " Lollie " Marie Hughes, Deborah Dawn Thompson along with her children, Candace Carol Lopez, Lane Thomas Carroll Breedlove; ex-wife, Rhonda Jean Hughes; step-son, Cecil Ryan Mullenweg; who loved and cared for Jim up to his last day with us.
Also, his faithful employees, Ruben Cuellar, Jack Jordan, Victor Gomez and Mario Hernandez; bestfriend ( twin by another mother ), Donald Harley and so many more great friends who miss him and his quick wit!
