Mary Winston

Mary F. Winston, age 89, of Missouri City, Texas departed this side of life to eternal rest on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. She was born in Trenton, Tennessee on January 10, 1934, to Joe Hendrix and Oddlean Andrews Hendrix.

Mary was a longtime member of Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana before moving to Texas where she attended services at New St. Phillips MBC in Arcola, Texas.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Winston, sisters, Martha Joe Hendrix, Rudolph Hendrix Doakes, and Annie L. Shaw; her brother, Billy J. Hendrix; and grandson, Desota T. Wright Payton.

Mary was a retired healthcare worker. She enjoyed spending time and cooking for her family and friends. Her hobbies were fishing, playing bingo, word puzzles, cooking and playing cards.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory four children, Kenneth L. Payton of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Michelle Payton of Fresno, Texas, Verlinda Hendrix of Fresno, Texas and Dewan E. Warbington of Indianapolis, Indiana; a brother, William H. Hendrix of Mishawaka, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mary will forever be loved and remembered by all that knew her.
