October 18, 1962 – December 26, 2024
Michael Gerhard Simon, lovingly known as Mike, passed away on December 26, 2024, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 62.
Mike was not just a father—he was the heart and soul of his family. His love, wisdom, and warm smile were constants in the lives of those who knew him. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, making countless sacrifices and always putting others before himself. His dedication to his loved ones was unmatched, and the strength and love he poured into his family will forever be remembered. He was a man who truly lived as if exploring the final frontier…on and off the golf course.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 27 strong and loving years and their five children, who were the center of his world. He deeply valued his family above everything else, and they will continue to honor his memory by carrying that same love and dedication forward.
A man of many passions, Mike found joy on the golf course, spending weekends perfecting his swing and sharing stories with friends. For him, golf was more than a game—it was a way to challenge himself and enjoy meaningful moments with others. His adventurous spirit also shined through his love for Star Trek and Marvel. Whether he was rewatching his favorite episodes, quoting iconic lines, or debating who the best superhero was, his enthusiasm for these worlds reflected his boundless imagination.
Mike also appreciated life’s simple pleasures. His love for a good bowl of gumbo was unmatched—it was always his go-to suggestion for family dinners. His legendary sweet tooth meant he would never turn down ice cream, whether it was a scoop or a whole pint( especially strawberry cheesecake) Mike was a devoted sports fan, always eager to watch baseball and football games, not for the scores, but for the camaraderie and shared experience. He pursued his love for baseball by playing in the minor leagues, a reflection of his lifelong dedication to sports. His love for music, especially old jazz and r&b, filled countless hours as he sang along in the backyard and introduced his family to his favorite songs. Mike had a thoughtful, reflective side as well, often jotting down his thoughts on life, love, and learning—always considering how we grow together. He was constantly creating whether it was a new invention or a shirt design for his golf passion.
Above all, Mike was a hardworking man who spent his life making sure his family had everything they needed. He worked long hours, took on extra jobs, and was always ready to fix what was broken or offer advice when it was needed. His strength, thoughtfulness, and perfectly lighthearted humor made him the most incredible husband and father his family could have ever asked for.
Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A voyage of remembrance for Mike will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park South Funeral Home, 12650 Shadow Creek Parkway, Pearland, Texas 77584.
