Deaconess Mopelola Idayat Idowu

Deaconess Mopelola Idayat Idowu, age 70, was born on June 25, 1956, in Lagos, Nigeria, and passed away on September 13, 2026. A resident of Houston, Texas, she will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection—as a beloved and devoted presence whose gentle spirit, loyal heart, and quiet generosity touched many lives.

Mopelola pursued higher education with purpose and determination, earning a B.S at Texas Southern university. She carried that same steadiness into her professional life and faithfully served others throughout her career, retiring as a Respiratory Therapist. Her work reflected the kind-hearted care she offered so naturally, marked by compassion, patience, and a sincere desire to help.

For 48 years, Mopelola shared a devoted marriage with Adegoke Idowu. Their life together stood as a testimony of loyalty and commitment, grounded in love and strengthened by faith.

Mopelola’s faith was not only personal—it was lived openly and generously in service to others. She served as a deaconess at the Apostolic Church in Houston, Texas, where her faithful dedication and inspirational example were felt in both quiet acts of support and steadfast spiritual leadership.

She is preceded in death by her parents Waheed Dosunmu & Wuraola Oyekan. She is survived by husband Adegoke Idowu; Daughter: Queen Idowu; Sons: Leke & Demi Idowu; Sister: Mrs. Kofo Munis & Mrs. Abiola Olowu; Brothers Pastor Seni Dosunmu & Kunle Doherty; Grandchildren’s: Eniola Idowu, Kadrianna Idowu, Krya Idowu and Remi Idowu.

Service of Songs will be held at The Apostolic Church, 10540 Synott Avenue, Sugarland, Texas 77498, on October 2, 2026 at 7:00 pm.

Visitation will be held at Forest Park South Funeral Home, 12650 Shadow Creek Parkway, Pearland, TX 77584, US, on October 3, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Park South Funeral Home, 12650 Shadow Creek Parkway, Pearland, TX 77584, US, on October 3, 2026 at 11:00 am.

Committal Service will be held at Paradise Cemetery South, 2237 Cullen Blvd, Pearland, TX 77581, US, on October 3, 2026 at 1:00 pm.

Thanksgiving Service will be held at The Apostolic Church Synott Assembly, 10540 Synott Avenue, Sugarland, Texas 77498, on October 4, 2026 at 10:00 am.
