

Robert Michael Hammond, known to all as “Michael,” passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 4, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas, Michael made his home in Houston, Texas, where he built a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Corinne Hammond; his children, Eric Hammond and wife Hannah, and Michele Peters and husband Chris; his beloved granddaughter, Charlotte Peters; his cherished aunt, Nan Hotmann; and his brothers, Pat Hammond and Steve Hammond. He is also survived by his in-laws, Leonard Candelaria and Kathryn Fouse; Cilvea and Jim Metzger; Magell and Kathy Candelaria; and Ron and Jan Candelaria. Michael will be deeply missed by his beloved dog, Tank, and by his extended family and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Robert Hammond.
Michael’s passions were as wide and varied as his generous spirit. He had a lifelong love of cars, boating, sailing, and wine, and delighted in sharing his knowledge and skills with others. Whether teaching, tending the grill, or enjoying a good book, Michael brought warmth, patience, and joy to every moment. His gentle humor, steadfast character, and deep devotion to family and friends left an enduring mark on all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Park South Funeral Home on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for Michael’s life.
Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Leukemia Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center, in honor of Michael’s courageous fight.
