Robert Lee Mizell, known to many as Bob Mizell, was born October 18, 1938, and went to meet his Heavenly Father on Father’s Day, June 21, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jeanne Mizell; his children, Tim Mizell and wife Angie, Tonya Murphy and husband Greg, and Terrell Mizell and wife Stephanie; his spiritual daughter, Carole Zamora and husband Moises, 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Jack Mizell; his sister, Glennis Taylor and husband John Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Tarkington Prairie High School in 1957. He served our country in the armed forces for several years. He worked at Firestone in Port Arthur, TX, for 8 years before crossing the picket line during a strike. This led to death threats against the family, and Firestone ultimately found him a job in Houston at Afton Pumps. He worked for Afton Pumps as the service manager for 38 years. During his time at Afton Pumps, he traveled the world, including Europe, South America, Africa, and the Virgin Islands.
During his free time, he absolutely loved hunting and fishing with his brother, Jack, as well as his sons, nephews, and numerous friends. His family learned to eat whatever was placed on the table, whether it was squirrel, venison, fried catfish, or white-winged dove.
Robert loved his family. His love was demonstrated in so many ways. He was kind, compassionate, and encouraging to all. He was funny and had a silly side. He loved to sing silly songs about anything at the drop of a hat.
In his retirement years, he enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, framing them, and giving them away or hanging them on his wall. He spent hours working word-finding puzzles as well. Gardening was always his passion, as well as mowing the lawn and picking pecans.
However, what was most important and became even more important in his later years was his relationship with Jesus Christ. There is no doubt that Robert was wrapped in the arms of his One True Father on Father’s Day, 2026.
Robert was not perfect, as none of us on this earth are, but he loved his family, his country, and his God.
He touched many lives, and his legacy will live on for generations to come.
Visitation will be held at Forest Park South Funeral Home, 12650 Shadow Creek Parkway, Pearland, TX 77584, US, on June 27, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am
