

CREVE COEUR ~ Alpha Mae Webb, 90, of 576 Dempsey St., passed away at 6:40 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009 at Washington Christian Village. Born February 6, 1918 in Newport, Tennessee to Sam and Viney (Evans) Magaha, she married Jesse Webb in 1942 in Gastonia, South Carolina. He died in 1981 in Brimfield. She also was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Kay Webb, and one brother, Charles.Surviving are two daughters, Carol R. (John) Woods of Creve Coeur and Karen J. (Henry) Etherton of Spring Bay; five grandchildren, Tammy L. (Robb) Duvendack of Germantown Hills, Tina M. (Jeff) Saad and Tim Etherton, both of Peoria, Scott R. Etherton of Creve Coeur, and Jennifer L. Etherton of Phoenix, Arizona; and four great-grandchildren. Mae worked as a nurses aide at Patterson's Nursing Home in Elmwood for many years, where she also worked in the kitchen. She loved cooking, quilting, gardening and was an avid reader. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Dwight Winnett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brimfield Cemetery in Brimfield.
