Adella Eleanor Cotton

Born on April 4, 1964 in Peoria, she was a daughter of Lyle Lee and Virginia Leona (Ward) Cotton.

Adella is survived by her three sons, Juan Ozuna of Texas, Jose Manuel (Jacqueline) Ozuna of Peoria County and Jeramie Thomas Lee Ozuna of Peoria; one grandson, Conner Ozuna; her mother, Virginia Leona Roberston of East Peoria; five sisters, Deloris Kay Cotton of East Peoria, Ginnie (Timothy) Reber of Mackinaw, Elexsis (Steven Nicholas) Clatt of North Carolina and Lilly Mae (Arthur) Conover of Avon Park, Florida, and Kahoka Haskins of Sebring, Florida; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her close niece, Sade` Cotton.

Also, her chosen family Thomas (Destinee) Turner, Jr. and their children. Adella loved them as her own and we know they loved Adella too. They were her across the street family and we are so grateful for the love they had for her and the support and care they provided her.

She was preceded in death by her father; one granddaughter, Amie Leann Ozuna; and one infant sister, Larae Cole.

Adella loved animals, but had a special love for ferrets. She adopted and cared for many of “her babies” as she referred to them in her lifetime. She had many friends in the ferret community and was an advocate for their rescue and care.

Adella lived her life passionately and on her own terms without apologies. She was a spitfire and left an impression on anyone who met her. She loved her family and friends fiercely. Though her passing leaves an ache that words can’t fully explain. Her love does not leave us. It is in our memories where we will carry her forward, in our stories, our laughter and in the love we continue to share. We are all grateful for the privilege of the life she shared with us.

A gathering celebrating Adella's life will from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2026 at the Heritage Lake Lodge, 200 Brandy Drive in Mackinaw, where a meal and beverages will be provided.

Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
