Born September 25, 1943 in Peoria to Albert John and Averil (Call) Hinthorn, he married Lillie L. Beebe on November 13, 1966 in Pekin. She died June 9, 2016 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are one daughter, Jessica Hinthorn of Pekin; two sons, Troy Hinthorn and Frank (Theresa) Hinthorn, both of Pekin; three grandchildren, Brody (Halee) Hinthorn of Pekin, Anthony Frampton of Florida and Hunter Hinthorn of Alabama; two great-grandchildren, Brentlee and Ellie Hinthorn; one sister, Joyce Hinthorn of Glasford and one brother, Larry Hinthorn of Pekin.
Al was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Era.
He had worked at Excel Foundry & Machine in Pekin for 40-plus years in quality control before retiring in 2004.
An avid Ham Radio Operator, Al loved watching old TV shows, the Chicago Bears and listening to Southern Gospel music and the Dixie Chicks.
Al formerly attended First Baptist Church in Pekin and placed God first in his life.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Chaplain Scot Shelburne will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Garden in Pekin, where military rites will be provided by the United States Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
