

CREVE COEUR ~ Alice Ann "Big Al" Prather, 59, of Creve Coeur, passed away at 10:08 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born September 1, 1955 in Bloomington to James and Shirley Ann (Carnahan) Lambert, she married her high school sweetheart, Marvin Prather on October 12, 1973 in McLean. She and Marvin devoted their lives to each other and to raising their family. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother of Pekin; her daughter, Kari Fugitt of Pekin; her son, Kyle James (Jennifer) Prather of Washington; and six grandchildren, Annika Fugitt, Camden Fugitt, Brandon Prather, Gabrielle Welch, Alex Welch and Brianna Fisher.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Alice had attended the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creve Coeur and later the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria.
Alice was a selfless person, who always put others first. She never met a person she didn't like and didn't have an enemy in the world. Above all, Alice was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished time spent with her family and friends.
She had worked for HCH for 20 years doing health insurance claims.
Alice was a former coach and officer for the Floyd Castleman Youth Association. She also was a member of the Creve Coeur Jaycee-ettes, where she was able to help raise funds and build a park near the Community Center in Creve Coeur.
Alice loved riding her motorcycle and was a member of Freedom Valley A.B.A.T.E. She was an avid Harley Davidson fan.
Her memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Rev. Mary Arnold will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Cremation rites were accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Colon Cancer Alliance at 1025 Vermont Ave, NW, Suite 1066 Washington, DC 20005 or to Comfort Plus Hospice at 2400 N. 8th St. Pekin, IL 61554.
