Allen Ray Pitchford

Born November 13, 1927 in Peoria to Allen B. and Nellie (Hagan) Pitchford, he married MildredL.Glasford on August 12, 1949 in Bartonville. She died April 30, 2011in Chillicothe. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ralph Pitchford.

Surviving are two sons, Royal Pitchford of Crystal Lake and Mickey (Debee) Pitchford of Tremont; one daughter, Maureen (Michael) Stair of Carson City, Nevada; five grandchildren; one great-grandson and his significant other, Priscilla Aderholtz of Pekin.

Ray was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1945 till 1947.

He had worked as a manufacturing sales representative for IdealManufacturing & Stampingin Iowa for 18 years. He had also worked at 14thStreet Hardware in Pekin for 12 years and last worked as a shuttle car driver for Avis, retiring in 2019.

Ray loved fishing and traveling with his wife. He also enjoyed photography, listening to music and anything to do with history.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2020 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes &Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Daniel Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. Military rites will be provided by the United States Navy and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
