Angela Faye Slater

Born October 13, 1972 in Peoria to Wayne Bruce Sams and Barbara Jean (Becraft) Sams, she married Maurice Slater.

Surviving are her mother, Barbara Maas of Pekin and one daughter, Sienna L. Sams of Carol Stream.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Michael Lee Sams.

Angela was a 1990 graduate of Pekin Community High School. She later graduated from Illinois Central College with her certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2009.

Angela was a very compassionate caregiver and loving person. She last worked before Memorial Day for Advantage Medical in Decatur. She previously worked for Grifols Talecris – Plasma Donation Center in Peoria. She was an unforgettable nurse and made an impression on all her coworkers and patients.

She was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and rarely missed watching a game. She loved her daughter more than anyone and would talk about her all the time, she was the light of her world. She also cherished her friends and family very much. Angela had an infectious smile and loved to have fun everywhere she went. She had a true love for animals and music. Overall, she was truly a one-of-a-kind soul.

Her memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Dwight Winnett will officiate. Private inurnment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin at a later date.
