Born August 4, 1945 in Peoria to Leonard Fredrick and Vinna (Copelen) Erxleben, he married Judith Stickelmaier on June 1, 1968. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Trina (Eric Schlag) Etter of Pekin and Jamie (Shannon) Erxleben; five grandchildren, Brianna (Kyle) Benson of Farmington, Sheyenne (Kameren) Holliday of Marquette Heights, Bailey Morrison, Christian Pfeiffer-Erxleben and Brody Etter, all of Pekin; one sister, Nola Aylward of East Peoria; four nephews; two nieces and her beloved pet, Scooby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Erxleben and Velma Flesner; one sister, Velma Beaver and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
David was a member of the Iron Worker Local Union #112 and had worked for Caterpillar Inc. Following retirement he worked at J & H Car Wash.
He was a member of the Pekin Moose Family Center # 916, the Tractor Club in Mapleton and the River Valley Antique Association.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, riding motorcycles and camping in the Wisconsin Dells and Florida and his yearly vacations to Arkansas. In his youth he enjoyed showing hogs at the local county fair.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. His private graveside will be held at later date at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
