Anna Mae Montgomery

EAST PEORIA ~ Anna Mae Montgomery, 97, of East Peoria, passed away at 3 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2021 at Amy’s Country Manor in Pekin.

Born June 30, 1923 in Colchester to Clyde and Neva (Hancock) George, she married James Richard Montgomery on November 1, 1943 in Canton, Missouri. He died on June 24, 1970. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Terry Montgomery and three brothers, Lloyd George, Bill George and Bob George.

Surviving are three sons, John Montgomery of East Peoria, Jerry (Sandy) Montgomery of Apopka, Florida and Michael (Teressa) Montgomery of Creve Coeur; two daughters, Joy (Karl) Zimmermann of Tremont and Janet Connell of East Peoria; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mary McKinney of Duncan, Arizona and Betty Johnson of La Harpe.

A native of La Harpe, Anna worked as a beautician until the time to raise her children. She worked galvanizing planes during World War II in California while her husband was in the Navy.

Anna was all about her family.

A graveside service will be held in La Harpe Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
