Arlen Brown

Born April 10, 1930 in Tamms to LeRoy Allen and Hazel Fern (Martin) Brown, he married Dorothy June Sylvester on August 28, 1947 in Palmyra, MO.  She died July 1, 2002 in Wyoming.  He also was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Danny Brown; one granddaughter, Lindsay Wilkins; six brothers and one sister.

Surviving are two sons, Dennis Brown and Rex (Patty) Brown, both of Wyoming; four daughters, Marsha Norris of Kingston Mines, Patsy Ayers of Molton, AL, Cathy Brown of Pekin and Tina Wilkins of Wyoming; thirty-three grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Arlen and his wife owned and operated Brownie's Supper Club in Camp Grove, Kingston Mines and then in Pekin from 1968 until retiring in 1997.  He also worked for Corn Products Company in Pekin for 25 years, retiring in 1968 as a dryer operator.

Brownie enjoyed woodworking and made grandfather clocks and end tables.  He loved country music and liked to fish.  He also liked horse racing and going to the OTB parlors.  In his younger years, he was a Golden Glove boxer.  His family will fondly remember him as a good father who was a very special and ornery person.  He was loved by his family.

His funeral will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Frank Noyes will officiate.  Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
