Audrey Ann (Sossoman) Squire

Born November 25, 1941 in South Bend, Indiana to Thomas David and Hazel Emma (Collins) Sossoman, Sr., she married Talmage Frank Squire, Jr. on April 8, 1988 in Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are five children, John D. Gillis, James D. Gillis, both of South Bend, Indiana, Rhonda (Anton) Sparrius of Pekin, Frank (Jeannie) Squire of Pekin and Scott J. (Jennifer) Squire of Ft. Myers, Florida; seven grandchildren; one brother, Thomas D. Sossoman, Jr. of Berrien Springs, Michigan and one sister, H. Elaine (Andy) Parrish of Niles, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Audrey graduated from Central High School in South Bend, Indiana in 1959.

She owned and managed several restaurants throughout her early years. She retired from the Pekin Wal-Mart in 2001 after over 11 years of service.

Audrey was a charter member of New Covenant Church of God in Mapleton, where she served as treasurer of the Christian Women’s Connection for several years. She enjoyed cooking in the church kitchen, working crossword puzzles and traveling.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Patrick McCone will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
