Artice Privett, 75, of 1519 South 6th Street, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2006 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.Born March 27, 1931 in Henderson County, Tennessee to Noah Lawson and Vera Lillian (Jackson) Diggs, she married James Donald "J.D." Privett on April 19, 1953 in Pinson, Tennessee. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Paula A. (Russ) Hinderliter of Glasford; one son, Joseph D. (Jodie) Privett of Pekin; four grandchildren, Brent R. Hinderliter of Glasford, and Alexandra D. Privett, J. Cameron Privett, and Evan D. Privett, all of Pekin; one sister, Linda J. (Jerry) England of Jackson, Tennessee; and three brothers, P. Earl (Martha) Diggs and William J. (Ella Mae) Diggs, both of Pinson, Tennessee, and Kenneth W. (Barbara) Diggs of Oakfield, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Troy L. Diggs and Murrell D. Diggs), and two sisters (Anna R. Maas and Sarah M. Diggs).
A homemaker, Artice was co-founder and co-owner of San Juan Pools and Spas in Pekin and Bloomington since 1977.
She was a charter and 51-year member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin, where she taught first grade Sunday school for over 40 years, was flower coordinator for many years, and was a member of the Tuckabatchee Sunday school class. She was an election judge for Tazewell County.
Artice enjoyed gardening, canning, and decorating. She had been a representative for Home Interiors.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2006at Faith Baptist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Rory Bond and Kenneth Seest will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and also 30 minutes before the funeral Tuesday at the church.
Further services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2006at the George Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson, Tennessee, where visitation will be two hours before. Pastor Jimmy Bedwell and Evangelist Bill Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery in Pinson, Tennessee.
