Belinda "Lindy" Ann Martis

Born April 10, 1960 in Pekin, she was the daughter of James E. and Julia Ann (Thomas) Murphy, Sr. She married Shawn Patrick Martis on March 27, 2000. He died August 17, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Walter L. Waremburg; one son, Ryan Martis and one sister, Christine Murphy.

Surviving are three children, Steven (Sarah) Kennedy and Rachel (Josh) Cluck, both of Pekin, and Wesley Brown of Washington; two grandchildren, Julia Kennedy and Piper Rosenberg; three siblings, James E. (Sandra) Murphy Jr. of Green Valley, Kathy (Dan) Reatherford and Marcella Baugher, both of Pekin; several nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Brenda “Lovey” Hilst of Pekin.

An excellent homemaker and mother, Lindy worked for many years as a tax assessor for Pekin Township, she later worked as a professional cleaner.

She enjoyed gardening and caring for her house plants. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, especially cakes for all occasions. Her children and family meant the world to her.

Lindy was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024 at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. Pastor Eric Swanson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
