Betty Gore

Born October 16, 1932 in Spring Valley to William and Eva (Sanders) Shipp, Sr., she married James M. Gore on January 19, 1952  at Great Lakes Naval Base.

Surviving are her husband; 1 son, Ronald J. (Sandra) Gore of Pekin; 1 daughter, Cheryl A. (Robert) Wofford of Pekin; 2 granddaughters, Christeen (John) Shumaker and Lynsey Gore, both of Pekin; and 1 brother, William (Pat) Shipp, Jr. of Tremont.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 6 sisters; and 3 brothers.

A homemaker, Betty had formerly worked for LeTourneau-Westinghouse, Hyster Corporation, and Central National Bank, all in Peoria.  She had also been a civil service employee at Great Lakes Naval Base.

She enjoyed genealogy research and taking care of her family.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2009 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral.  Private burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
