Betty Jean Garrett

Born February 13, 1924 in Canton to Logan and Grace (Fillingham) Newton, she married John H. Garrett on October 23, 1943 in Bloomington. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Janet E. (Vance) Hall of East Peoria; one son, John M. (Carol) Garrett of Pekin; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two sisters, Margaret Piper of Bloomington and Louella Berry of Indianapolis, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; three sisters; one daughter, Kathy Colvin and two grandchildren.

A homemaker, Betty loved to travel and spend time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of Groveland Missionary Church.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2008at Groveland Missionary Church. The Rev. Tyler E. Boyer will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
