

PEKIN ~ Betty Lane Rogge, 85, originally of Pekin and was recently residing in Avon, Indiana, passed away at 8:15 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Born January 17, 1932 in Mott, North Dakota to Alfred T. and Mary L. (Ashby) Hartman, she married John Henry Rogge on October 16, 1976 in Pekin. He died March 19, 2002 in Topeka. She also was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James Stewart; a son-in-law, Rocky Duffin; two brothers, Walt Hartman and Jimmy Hartman, one sister, Marlene Short and one stepdaughter, Jeanne Nielsen.
Surviving are one son, James (Brenda) Stewart of Pekin; two daughters, Sharon Duffin of Pekin and Valerie (Tony) Nowosielski of Brownsburg, Indiana; one stepson, Joe (Judy) Rogge of Roanoke; one stepdaughter, Sherrie Genetti of Lincoln, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Raymond Nowosielski of New York, NY, D.J. (Denise) Duffin of Pekin, Chad (Michelle) Duffin of Oswego, Heather (Russ) Tabb of Pekin, Bill (April) McGinnis of Pekin, Bryce (Stacey) Stewart of Fenton, Michigan; eleven great-grandchildren, Cole Duffin, Jordan Duffin, Kaylia Duffin, Cade Duffin, Makayla Tabb, Jonathan Tabb, Tyler Tabb, Jayden Tabb, Tyler Stewart, J.T. Stewart and Lucas McGinnis; 6 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Ted (Helen) Hartman of Pekin and one sister, Shirley Strode of Pekin.
Betty enjoyed a long career in sales and was most proud of her work as an independent insurance agent for 10 years, retiring in 2001.
She enjoyed time spent with her family and also bowling, making crafts, painting, and sewing.
Betty was a member of First Christian Church in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Hank Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
