Born May 18, 1940 in Pekin to Adrian and Harriet (Miller) Marshall, Beverly married James Bernier on January 28, 1961 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. They were married for 53 years, and he preceded her in death on November 12, 2014.
Surviving are four children, Bradley (Michelle) Bernier of Morton, Brett (Danielle) Bernier of Pekin, Bethany (Miguel) Dungo of Noblesville, Indiana, and Brina (Matthew) Krambeck of Naperville. These marriages blessed Bev with twelve grandchildren, Matthew (Rachelle) Bernier, Michael Bernier, Jacob Bernier, Beau Bernier, Megan Bernier, Benjamin Bernier, Logan Dungo, Landon Dungo, Lexie Dungo, Dylan Krambeck, Colin Krambeck, and Ashtyn Krambeck, and one great-grandchild, Cecelia Bernier. Bev also leaves one sister, Eloise (Bill) Feuchter of Pekin, a brother-in-law, Allen (Carol) Bernier of Ashkum, and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Feil of Herrin.
Beverly loved the city of Pekin and lived there her entire life. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed being part of the PCHS Class of 1958 Reunion Committee. She was also a proud member of Chapter LM of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Bev played tennis for many years, enjoyed working in the garden, and was a talented seamstress. She and Jim loved to travel, particularly to Mexico in the winters. People were amazed at Bev’s never-ending energy. Even into her 80s, she continued to buy and sell tableware. She continuously sent cards and notes to family and friends, and her handwriting was truly special. She was a fan of the Fighting Illini, the Bulls and the Cubs, and she was an avid watcher of March Madness.
Her funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be from held from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
